Chenille Egg
Tying directions for tying a small egg imitation with chenille. Click on any of the images for a higher resolution version.
Materials for chenille egg:
Thread: 6/0 tying thread; Fluorescent orange in this example. Hook: Tiemco 105, size 6 in this example. Body: Various colors of fluorescent chenille; medium orange in this example.
Tie on the tying thread so it covers the shank of the hook.
Tie on a length of medium chenille.
Wrap the chenille two or three times around hook. Tie off chenille and finish head.
Finished fly, orange chenille. Fly is shown with a 6mm bead for size comparison.
Finished fly, pink version. A small amount of "cotton candy" egg yarn was tied in at the head for a "halo" effect. Fly is shown with a 6mm bead for size comparison.
